Technologies, standards and concepts related to Semantic Web and Web 2.0

In this section we present some key technologies and concepts that are closely related to Semantic Web and Web 2.0.

Back in 1996 Profium was one of the first companies to develop a content management system based on a semantic approach. Semantic Web is a key enabler of Web 2.0, an emerging concept that positions the Web as a platform that will dominate future IT development.

Profium is a member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and has an active role in developing new standards for the industry. Before founding Profium, CEO Dr. Janne Saarela worked at the W3C with Tim Berners Lee and other leading web technology experts.
