City of Espoo and Profium have signed an agreement which allows Profium Metadata Server and Profium Digital Archive to be used for management of image and object archives. The public RFP process finished with a procurement in late 2010 and the software is currently being delivered to the customer with the goal to start production use in Spring 2011. The software will be integrated to both the national ontology library (ONKI) as well as a new national long term archival interface (KDK) with the help of OAI-PMH technology.

“Our city image and object collections are priceless and the new system allows us to manage them more efficiently and intelligently than before. The system’s ability to allow changes to the underlying data model allows us to configure the search capabilities of the system with the help of ontologies.”, comments Mr. Georg Dolivo, Director of Culture at the city of Espoo.

Profium Metadata Server and Digital Archive software are used via Web browsers and are executed on server platforms hosted by Fujitsu Finland.
