FLEXIBLE IMAGE MANAGEMENT FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES

Profium Digital Asset Management System provides public view and image ordering facilities.

City of Jyväskylä, which has population of 132.000 and 7.500 employees, is using Profium Digital Asset Management for the management of digital images. Role based access control of the Profium Digital Asset Management system enables different branches of the municipal services maintain control of their own images.

Parts of the city organization, such as the Museum of Central Finland, have their own views to the image collection.

Views determine which metadata fields are shown to users and the layout of the user interface. Views can be easily modified when needed. Profium Digital Asset Management System provides public view and image ordering facilities. Public images are shown on the Internet, where they can be ordered online.

Technical metadata is automatically collected from the imported image files. Relevant ontologoies, especially Finnish General Upper Ontology YSO, are also integrated for improved description and retrieval of the collection items.

Interfaces of the Profium DAM Image Archive help with connecting with other information systems. The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) interface enables harvesting metadata into the National Digital Library (KDK) / Finna.fi. Finna-service provides free access to material from Finnish museums, libraries and archives.
