The EU’s directive on security of network and information systems (NIS directive) is replaced with a new NIS2 directive (revised Cybersecurity Directive). The new directive defines more precise requirements, procedural instructions and reporting obligations than before to ensure a high level of cyber security and to improve the ability to tolerance disturbances throughout the EU. The directive covers also an even wider group of actors in the public and private sector, e.g., transport, health, energy and infrastructure industries. According to the preliminary information, the directive is going to be published in 2022. After it’s published the member states have 21 months, from the directive’s entry into force, to transpose the provisions into national legislation.
